This Sunday, 8/10 at 6:30 p.m., we will discuss possible contributions to the next issue ofNews & Letters. Some examples are: 1) a report from a demonstration in McFarland, Ca., on 7/31, where the Dreamers marching on a “Trail for Humanity” and demanding immigration reform and humane treatment for the thousands of children at the border were joined by anti-prison activists demanding a closure of the newest private prison for women which just opened in McFarland. We have a statement from one of the Dreamers and a report from the organizers of the march especially what they’ve been learning from local people in the valley as they have been walking from Merced to the border.

2) Workshop Talks report on the massive capital expenditures on hospital buildings covering over disregard for humans in healthcare, both patients and healthcare workers.

3) An essay on the relation of Hegel and Marx to Spinoza, about whom there has been a resurgence of interest among Bay Area radical activists.

Plus much more…
