From the January-February 2015 issue of News & Letters
Chicago—On Jan. 12, about 25 of us from disabled rights organization Chicago ADAPT went to the Governor’s office in Chicago to deliver a letter to Governor-elect Bruce Rauner, letting him know who we are and what our demands are. Three of us got to his office and delivered the letter and a banner listing our major demands, including fully funding home healthcare.
Rauner has made his living out of exploiting the disabled and elderly in his many nursing homes. A comrade delivered a copy of the letter to Rauner’s office in Springfield at the same time, but he couldn’t get past the security guards. He was forced to give the letter to one of the guards.
