Part 1 explores the reverberations of the U.S.-Israel war against Iran and the countless other crises, from the climate crisis and ecological destruction to the AI arms race.
Part 2 takes up the calls, plans, and actions for counterrevolution by ideologues and leaders of the Right. They have linked their “counterrevolution” to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, while burying everything revolutionary about the 1776 revolution and all of U.S. history, just as they are attacking today’s freedom movements.
Part 3 considers the contradictions of the Left, including their groping for shortcuts to socialism, at a time when so many of the youth are fed up with capitalism. Recognizing Marxist-Humanism as an element in the contradictions in society and the Left, we think over the role of philosophy and organization in confronting the multiple interacting crises.
News and Letters Committees publishes the Draft Perspectives Thesis because our age is in such total crisis, facing a choice between absolute terror or absolute freedom, that a revolutionary organization can no longer allow any separation between theory and practice, philosophy and revolution, workers and intellectuals, “inside” and “outside.” We ask you to join in the discussion of these Perspectives with us. We are not presenting any pat answers to the question, “Where do we go from here?” We are raising the questions that demand answers—and we ask you to help us in working them out.
