News and Letters Committees invites you to a meeting on:
Climate change, capitalism, and Trump
Movements of youth, Indigenous peoples, and environmental justice show the possibility of a radically different direction. Their activism and thought reveal that it’s not too late to deal rationally with climate change. But the current political and economic system has failed and is going backward. The need is to overcome the barriers—economic, political, and ideological—put in place by capitalism and the reactionary movements born out of its crises, even before Trump’s turning cult climate denial into White House policy raised the stakes.
Speaker: Franklin Dmitryev: National Organizer of News and Letters Committees and author of “Puerto Ricans suffer as Donald Trump plays to his racist base” and “Standing Rock: The struggle continues”
