Retired women in Detroit have been learning about Project 2025, of which former President Donald Trump claims: “I know nothing about it,” followed by his statement that he disagrees with some of their points! Project 2025’s authors have many connections to Trump, both past and in the future they hope for. These women speak for themselves:
D.T.: This [Project 2025] is frightening. We had better do all we can to keep that man out of office. As long as we can, I’d rather continue taking my chance on Biden.
C.F.: This is a key issue people must understand to face the reality of what could be and in some cases is already happening.
The Black community exhaled once it was announced that it was a young white man—a registered Republican—who shot and killed one person, injured two critically, and grazed Trump’s ear at a rally in Butler, Penn., on July 13.
J.W.: Do you see that every time Trump raises his fist his lips say “White Power”?
P.T.: Black people knew it wasn’t one of us right away because when it is they splash his picture, his Mama’s picture, his address immediately all over the media. The assassination attempt takes the spotlight off police brutality. Black men are still being shot and killed by police all over the country. We live in a time of blatant xenophobia and racism.
I refuse to accept that the masses are going to let Genocide Joe or Fascist Trump turn us into Nazis.
The vote is all I can hold onto. But I spoke with one of my young nieces in Florida—and she listened! She asked me what “phone-banking” is! I will be voting against fascism, and I will be working hard to get out the vote and inform people about Project 2025.
S.S.: Headlines like extreme weather, the computer error that affected the world, and the U.S. election have blown a sandstorm of obscurity over the Israeli government’s complete disregard of humanitarian conduct and international law. Understandably young people are frustrated with street protests because the war has so far gotten worse. Netanyahu’s visit should spark more visible outrage.
