News and Letters Committees invites you to a discussion on:
Trump and the Failing Capitalism That Employs Him
Capitalism’s degeneracy is manifest in President Donald Trump’s regime’s attempt to gut social services, legislate misogyny, demonize immigrants and Muslims and codify white supremacy as the law of the land. This is one expression of an increasingly barbaric world system seen at its worst in Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s genocidal regime in Syria and the bombing of mostly civilians in Yemen by the Saudis with weapons supplied by the U.S. and Britain.
Are these horrors a necessary outgrowth of capitalism? Do they reflect a failure of the Left? Can a philosophy of revolution help unify the opposition to this turn toward fascism? Join us for a free and open discussion of these life and death questions.
Presentation by: Gerry Emmett, “World In View” columnist for News & Letters, author of “Marx’s Marxism vs. Trump-Putin’s barbarism”
